Being one of Thailand’s Historical and majestic highlights, there are many things to do in Ayutthaya Province, Thailand. The name Ayutthaya derives from the Sanskrit word AyodhyÄ, found in the Ramayana, which means "the invincible city".
Full name Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, the city is one of the central provinces (changwat) of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (from north clockwise) Ang Thong, Lopburi, Saraburi, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom and Suphan Buri.
Visitors can explore and appreciate Thai History in Phra nakhon Si Ayutthaya, which is only 86 kilometres north of Bangkok. Visitors to Ayutthaya can marvel at its grandeur reflected through numerous magnificent temples and ruins concentrated in and around the City, which is located upon an “Island” surrounded by the Chao Phraya, Pa Sak and Lopburi Rivers.
