Volkswagen began manufacture of the ID.4 in the United States in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which allowed the company to provide a base MSRP of $37,495 despite the lower cost of production (before destination fees). When up to $7,500 in federal credits are considered, the basic ID.4 makes a lot of financial sense at less than $30,000, especially when one considers that the old base ID.4 starts at almost $41,000 before tax credits are taken into account.
